USA! USA!

I have been watching the world junior hockey championships and enjoying it. I have noticed that the crowd here in Vancouver roots pretty hard against the American team. Hardly a surprise, but it got me thinking: If I were American, I would be pissed. I mean politics aside, the US is like Canada's big brother in a lot of ways, and our similarities outnumber our differences.

Personally, I have never received an order from the Czech Republic or Russia, but plenty of Americans support me and what I do. Sometimes its easy to get caught up in the anti-american sentiment, again because of the politics. Sometimes I think we Canucks should show just a little more respect...

It's hard not to get caught up in the anti-american sentiment when you're an american. Many of us just want to be Canadians anyway... But thanks for sticking up for us. I have to say- the last several CDs I've purchased are from Canadian artists. Ya'll need to tour down here more often!

I totally agree Roddy. It's time people grow up. America is our biggest trading partner, and they'll always have our back when we need it. It's one thing to hate Bush, and another to hate a whole country's population.

Or perhaps they're just booing Jack (mini-Bertuzzi) Johnson.

They are booing Jack Johnson as well, which I am fine with.

Someone made the point that if it happened in the US, with US fans booing a CDN team (that wasn't playing against a US team at the time) then we would be all up in arms and it would be national news. We have such an inferiority complex...

I've really been noticing our inferiority complex lately. Especially if you watch CBC for an extended period of time. They go on and on about how we compare to U.S. They just did a thing on all the comedians that have come from Canada - interesting, but still trying to prove something.

I wouldn't stress how America might feel due to Canada's animosity. Most Americans don't really care (even the really liberal anti-bush ones) what Canadians think. Most Americans think of Canada as the Ned Flanders of the Global Community. I bet you can name more US states than I can name Canadian provinces (I can only name four and I'm not sure how many there are total).

And if I were watching the World Junior Hockey Championships (and if I cared) I'd probably root against anyone who wasn't on the USA team. Then again, it's not quite fair to single a bunch of kids out for the things their country does that they have asolutely no control over. Kinda like beating up the bucktooth kid in grammar school because he has buckteeth. That's just cruel.

Big P&C fan and southern American here. I've endured the jabs in the songs, and take it in stride. It's all cool. Above all else we're all individuals with individual opinions. I personally don't like Bush, and I surely didn't vote for him. Shit, I'm southern. We are insulted constantly. We're hick child molesting incest driven missing teeth morons. But just like anything else, there are plenty of exceptions. You gotta be careful not to paint with such a wide brush as to miss the details. Shit, if I let everything anti-american I hear bother me, my hair would fall out faster than it is now. We'll just have to see how stuff goes down after the next big attack, and who has each other's back.

Of course we european do not order directly on your store, the postage fee from canada is just too fucking expensive! So we just order your albums from other online store to avoid bankrupcy ;).
However, you're quite right, before complaining about american, people think twice and check what's going on in their country...
And chauvinism is just so stupid.
